Marlborough Wine Region
Kato wines are crafted in Marlborough, New Zealand. Marlborough is renowned for its diversity and quality of wines, largely due to its three distinct sub-regions: Southern Valleys, Wairau Valley, and Awatere Valley.
The three sub-regions provide significant benefits such as diverse terroirs, varied wine styles, climate adaptation and consistent quality. These factors collectively contribute to Marlborough's status as one of the world's leading wine regions.
The area is the premier New World wine growing region for Sauvignon Blanc. It is located at the top of the South Island of New Zealand and is blessed with a long growing season, high sunshine hours and cool ocean breezes. Warm, dry days and crisp, cool nights provide the temperature variation required for delicious Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir wines.

Brookby Vineyard - Southern Valleys
Wrapping around the surrounding hills of the Omaka, Fairhall, Brancott, Ben Morven, and Waihopai Valleys the Southern Valleys sub region has varying soils but tend to be heavier than the Wairau. Cooler and drier the further south you head into the valleys and hillside climates see more robust and structured wines from this area. A ripe tropical spectrum, filled with guava, melon and passionfruit is finely balanced and succulent on the palate.
Caseys Vineyard - Awatere Valley
Fresh and vibrant Sauvignon Blanc is produced from the Blind River / Otūwhero sub region. Free-draining soils allows for vines to produce intense fruit flavour with purity. Gooseberry notes are distinctive with linearity, whilst a Spring sea breeze is evident on the nose.
Patriarch Vineyard - Upper Wairau Valley
Stretching from the Waihopai River west, running along the Wairau River, up the valley to the township and beyond the Upper Wairau sub region predominantly features stony, free-draining alluvial soils. With a warmer and slightly drier microclimate, this area sees significant temperature variation between day and night. Sauvignon Blanc produced is elegant and focused. Lime, apricot and stone fruit are well balanced with characteristics of chamomile and grass.
